Lets roll back the clock say 8 years......you would have found me training hard at a local dojo preparing for my next karate belt test, or national fighting tournament that was coming up. For 6 years, the world of martial arts was my life, training, traveling and competing- it and my Sensei- Mike Smith, among so many other influential masters (Terry Creamer, Chris Walker, Billy Roberts) taught me so many things, work ethic, technique, to pay attention to the detail, priorities and most of all it taught me respect.
True martial artists work unbelievably hard in every aspect of their training, perhaps 2000 kicks on each leg tonight or 1000 uppercuts on the bag followed by core and aerobic workout, and there was much much more than that. They dedicate their lives to learning their art, and build appreciation for similar martial artists training in different styles. They are some of the most down to earth and wonderful people that I have been able to call my friends.
Although an injury does not allow me to train any more, I had the great pleasure of shooting some amazing martial artists last month. Although they look tough (oh and they are!) they are wonderful people, and I am so glad that I got to be a part of their event. You can see the full gallery here, but I wanted to highlight some fantastic athletes and people that I got to meet and shoot.
