When Easter Seals Camp Challenge opened its doors in 1961, the pool was one of the first structures to be built. 50 years later, federal law required to make changes that resulted in building a new pool. The total project cost was estimated at $250,000 and there was a distinct possibility that the campers were not going to have a pool to swim in during camp this summer!
More than 100 donors "dove in" to save the pool, and in 6 short months, the funds were raised. Thank you to all the "life savers" for allowing the campers to continue to swim. The pool was dedicated on April 27, 2013.
Camp Challenge is operated by Easter Seals Florida and allows children and adults ages 6+ to attend a fully accessible summer camp each year, with swimming, ziplining, archery, rock climbing and more, its truely an incredible place to be.
