Little guys are so very cute! Not my typical photo shoot for sure, but Will was just too adorable for words. He didn't like his pictures taken, so I had to get a little sneaky!
The Zumba Fitness brand has attracted and helped millions of people to get fit, lose weight and feel great about themselves through their range of fun and magnetic fitness classes around the world.
Fewer people know that for the last 3 years, the Zumba Fitness organization has partnered with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and through thousands of Zumba Fitness events each year (over 1300 events in 2011, over 1800 events in 2012) has raised over $2M nationally and internationally to support breast cancer research.
Last week I was invited to shoot at a Zumbathon® in South Florida. I cover a lot of Zumba events, many raising money for excellent causes......Breast Cancer, ALS, surgery costs, etc however this event really opened my eyes. The proceeds from the event went to The Rose Network, and organization that raises awareness to prevent human trafficking. We all think that this happens in other countries, but yet its happening right under our noses!
Such a precious day, capturing some great moments during Maya's 1st Birthday party. Maya is so adorable, with a fabulous personality, lots of smiles, and some expressions that certainly make you laugh.
After being involved in the martial arts world for many years, I have a love and respect for all of the martial arts and its students. Recently I had the great honor of visiting the Brazilian Top Team dojo to do a photo shoot. After walking into a fairly small, unassuming brazilian jiu-jitsu dojo in Melbourne, Florida, it would seem like any other martial arts facility, however after spending a few minutes looking at pictures in the head instructors office, articles and features proudly framed on the wall, world title awards and belts, and the students getting ready for their training, it was obvious that this was indeed a very different type of gym.
The single most asked question I receive when I am photographing people is: "Can you make me look 10lbs lighter when you edit and photoshop the pictures"?
My answer, is typically "Yes! I can. But No! I won't".
Society has brainwashed us into having a pre-conceived notion of what is beautiful, and most often the positive perception never transfers to ourselves. With the internet, media, camera's in our phones, magazines and TV, we are bombarded by millions of images and what beautiful "should" be.
Yesterday Inc. Magazine names Zumba® Fitness LLC its "Company of the Year" . With growth of over 750% in the last few years, 14 million people around the world taking Zumba® Fitness Classes, 70,000 official teaching locations and 95% of gyms offing classes (even in the Pentagon) its quite a force to be reckoned with!
On Thanksgiving morning at 7am, and at a crispy 55 degrees outside, I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot with one of the best up and coming MMA fighters and martial artists around!
At only 5ft 7' and 145lbs, a little sleepy, and dressed in jeans and a beanie cap,
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to honor the cultures of the indigenous people of the America's, who are culturally distinct groups who maintain an ancestral bond to the lands where they live.
"From the rubble of once crime-ridden, drug-infested buildings in the Booker T. Washington neighborhood rises Greater Heights, an attractive, well-constructed apartment community for 18 low-income families and senior citizens. Formerly known as “The Bottoms,” this area was once synonymous with despair.
Lets roll back the clock say 8 years......you would have found me training hard at a local dojo preparing for my next karate belt test, or national fighting tournament that was coming up. For 6 years, the world of martial arts was my life, training, traveling and competing- it and my Sensei- Mike Smith, among so many other influential masters (Terry Creamer, Chris Walker, Billy Roberts) taught me so many things, work ethic, technique, to pay attention to the detail, priorities and most of all it taught me respect.
I had the pleasure of capturing a beautiful shabby-chic wedding in Marco Island, Florida a few weeks ago. The skies opened right as the ceremony ended and rain fell for many hours. Hilda, who is also a Zumba® instructor in the area managed to infuse a little bit of Zumba® pink and plenty of energy throughout the whole event so that it went beautifully. What a wonderful celebration.....I just had to share! Check out the slideshow........ or here are a few of my favorites.
Just a few weeks ago I had the opportunity to shoot a truly amazing lady! Amy is a Mom of 4, however 2 of her children have autism! Not only is she raising her incredibly special children, she is doing so alone as her husband is deployed in the military. If that wasn't enough to keep her busy, Amy is a Zumba Instructor and inspires others every day to make themselves better. Amy is full of energy, and was an absolutely beautiful model to work with! I wanted to share a few of her pictures as she is truly inspiring!
Those who make a difference in our worlds sometimes do so without ever knowing how much of an impact they made on our lives. There are two people who I owe my positive influences and without whom Prescott Enterprises Photography would never have been born!
Prescott Enterprises was created in memory of my father, Alan Prescott, who passed away in 2011. He was a dynamic and successful business owner and entrepreneur, who operated our family business since before I was born. A tough, but fair and excellent boss, he was passionate about his work, proud of his business, and a role model to his staff. My father never got to see my business open, or start to grow, but it is with his memory, his values, and his passion and dedication to the things that he loved that drives Prescott Enterprises, Prescott Enterprises Photography and me to never quit, and always strive for top quality service to the wonderful people that I work with. My hope is to continue to make him proud with providing wonderful, high quality images and memories to everyone who we work with.
